Painshill Landscape Garden



Painshill 18th century English landscape garden was created between 1738 and 1773 by the Hon. Charles Hamilton.


Born in Dublin in 1704, Hamilton, the ninth son and 14th child of the Sixth Earl of Abercorn, embarked on two Grand Tours across Europe before acquiring land at Painshill. He created a Picturesque garden involving follies, exotic plants and grand vistas. 


The garden was restored during the 1970's and is a wonderful place to stroll and enjoy the various sights lovingly restored. I can thoroughly recommend this garden. Their web site is:
